NTM Engineering brings joy to children in hospitals across Pennsylvania

Newell, Tereska & MacKay (NTM) Engineering, Inc. continued their tradition of giving back to their community by supporting The Jared Box Project. In addition to making a monetary donation, the staff at the NTM-Dillsburg, PA office made 40 Jared Boxes for PSU Hershey Children’s Hospital. The staff at the NTM-State College, PA office made 15 Jared Boxes for Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital in Danville, and the staff at the NTM- Philadelphia office made Jared Boxes for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

The Jared Box Project is a nonprofit organization on a mission to put smiles on the faces of children in the hospital. A Jared Box is a plastic shoebox filled with crayons, coloring books, puzzles, crafts, and other fun activities  The project was started in State College, Pennsylvania, and has since spread to all 50 states, over 900,000 Jared Boxes have been made.

NTM Engineering, Inc. is a civil engineering firm that specializes in water resources design, bridge design, and engineering instruction for public and private sector clients. They have offices in State College, Dillsburg, and Philadelphia. Since its establishment in 2007, NTM has consistently given back to the communities where they live, work, and play. They have donated time, money, and goods to over 90 charitable causes.

“NTM Engineering believes that community involvement is very important, and we make it part of our mission to give back to local organizations. NTM employees were excited to create the Jared Boxes and included their families and children in the process. We cannot begin to understand the worry and pain that some of these children have to go through, but we hope that this project will bring a smile or small reprieve to their day,” said Donna Newell, MS, PE, CFM, President of NTM.

Heather Sweitzer, Marketing Manager at NTM, added, “This was such a fun project to be part of, with an even better mission. If you don’t know about The Jared Box Project, please look it up. You cannot help but be moved to want to do anything to help!”

Cindy Kolarik, Executive Director of The Jared Box Project said, “We are so very thankful for the generous and heartfelt support of NTM Engineering. It says a lot about the values of this organization and the kindness of the employees that all offices were all on board to make Jared Boxes. Without a doubt, the children that receive these fun-filled Jared Boxes will be overjoyed.”
